One night, every muscle you can move gets ten times stronger. Doors come off their hinges, phones fold, and you can out-lift the world record... on paper. But your bones and tendons didn't get the upgrade.
What's real in this episode
- a young man's grip squeezes about 100 lb (NHANES).
- arm-wrestlers break their own upper-arm bones with normal muscles.
- tendons are built roughly 9x stronger than the muscles that pull on them.
- chimps are about 1.35x stronger per muscle, not 5x. Numbers marked 'on paper' are our own simple estimates.
